Gabriel Haoua

Born in 1668 in Alep, In 1695, he was ordained priest and became the First General Superior of the Order (1695-1699).
His vision of an organization fully devoted to the mission and to the pastoral work did not meet that of his companions. In 1699, he left the Order and went to Rome.
Bishop of Cyprus in 1723, he accomplished diverse missions for Oriental churches in the perspective of the Uniatism. HAWA died in 1752.

Abdallah Qaraali

Born in 1672 in Alep.
Beginning 1695, he got actively involved with his companions in the reformation of the monastic life inside the Maronite Church.
He became priest in 1696 and the Second General Superior of the O.L.M. between 1699 and 1716, date of his Episcopal consecration at the eparchy of Beirut.
QARAALI is considered as the reformer of the Oriental monarchism, "par excellence".
His writings, his letters, his poetry as well as his pandects constitute a great intellectual wealth..
In 1736, he played a key role in the Lebanese Synod.
QARAALI died in 1742.

Joseph al-BITN

Born in 1679 in Alep. He arrived at Mount-Lebanon along with Qaraali and Hawa. He was ordained priest in 1706.
He did not accede any superior responsibility in the heart of the Order. In fact, he was involved with the inside management of already restored of founded monasteries.
In November 1714, he was accidently killed during a rocky crumbling which hit the monastery of St.
Anthony of Qozhaya. A big rock in the garden of the monastery carries, until now, the name of "rock of al-Bitn"
